| Pushing Daisies Information |
ABC's fall lineup has one of the most anticipated TV series in recent memory, and this is Pushing Daisies created by director Barry Sonnenfield and writer-producer Bryan Fuller who made highly praised sci-fi shows such as Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me. According to reports, Pushing Daisies is said to share some features of Fuller's previous shows, with quick witted comedy mixed with darker emotions and drama. ABC, however, describes Pushing Daisies as "an unprecedented blend of romance, crime procedural and high-concept fantasy." The romantic drama will premiere on October 3, 2007 and will air every Wednesdays at 8:00/7:00c on ABC.
Pushing Daisies is all about a mild-mannered pie baker, Ned, who discovered an amazing gift when he was still a child. And that gift is the ability to bring the dead back to life briefly (one minute) by touching them. The catch is that, if Ned touches this being a second time, they'll be dead permanently. And if they live for more than one minute, somebody else nearby will die. "It's a random proximity thing", according to the show's clip. It's a very complicated gift alright, but Ned manages to utilize his mysterious gift by helping Emerson, his private investigator (PI) friend, to solve murder cases by asking the dead victims to name their killers. Enter Charlotte or Chuck, Ned's childhood sweetheart who was once dead and now alive thanks to Ned. But Chuck doesn't follow the gift's rule for she manages to stay alive. Ned is, of course ecstatic with this development, but there's a twist: if Ned touches Chuck again, she'll be dead forever. How can you stand not touching the one you love? Watch Pushing Daisies and you'll know how Ned manages it.
Pushing Daisies cast of characters include Lee Pace who will star as Ned and Chi McBride as his PI-friend Emerson. Anna Friel will star as Charlotte "Chuck" Charles, Ned's childhood sweetheart who was murdered on a cruise ship but comes back to life. Kristin Chenoweth will play Olive, Ned's neighbor who is a waitress and will be part of the series' love triangle. Swoosie Kurtz will be Lily, Chuck's one-eyed, former synchronized swimmer agoraphobic aunt while Ellen Green will be Vivian, Chuck's other aunt who is also a former synchronized swimmer and shares Lily's mental illness. Lastly, Jim Dale is cast as the show's narrator. Pushing Daisies reunites Lee Pace with the series' creator Bryan Fuller; the two worked together on the critically acclaimed series, Wonderfalls. So, if you're hungering for a heartwarming quirky series this fall, with a bit of the fantastic mixed in, catch Pushing Daisies every Wednesday at 8:00/7:00c on ABC starting October 3, 2007. Sure to be Fuller's next critically-acclaimed TV series hit!
